Spring colours 2021
Joyous spring colours - in cotton + cotton/linen blends and #3 and #4 are cotton/hemp blends. Ready for an Equinox celebration or an Easter Basket ..... also to be noted... the towels went on the line before press time.... it was so cold the blue/purple/green ones were stiff in my hand when I carried them in again to get the crinkles straightened out. March is an exciting time on the clothesline indeed!
# 6 SOLD OUT
Fibre content in these towels are predominantly cotton with some linen, (85% cotton/15% linen) though one (#12) has about 35% bamboo as well and another (#13) has 100% linen in the weft, turning the overall fibre content into something more like 75%linen/25% cotton.
Naturals
Puffy stripes = locally grown flax/linen yarn from Taproot Fibre Lab in Port Williams, Nova Scotia - grown, harvested, processed and spun right here in my very own back yard. Two houses and a small woods over.....So very satisfying, delightful and impressive.
Cotton linen #3
Blue
All towels are made from varying % of cotton and linen - I mix by colour + fibre content and all do different dances in each piece.
#4 SOLD OUT
Blue
More blue - this time with natural hemp in both warp and weft as well as cotton and linen. 6 different joyful blues sit side by side in 7.5 cm stripes and as the weaving progresses with colours or naturals the brightness and/or sharpness of the colours move in and out of focus.
Checkers and stripes added to the initially 6 blue stripes makes for even more fun. size is approximately 55 x 80 cm - though it should be noted that #13 is a half sized towel. #9 + #12 SOLD OUT
Purple
All towels are made from varying % of cotton and linen - I mix by colour + fibre content and all do different dances in each piece.
Another pile of towels in a cotton and linen blend (80/20%) in deep delicious saturated colours. Washed in hot water twice already to stop 'bleeding' and other such nonsense. I recommend cold/medium water temp and wash with like or dark colours. Also...... looking at the crinkles on the clothes line, one should not leave freshly washed towels lying about in a pile for any length of time. They will be smooth and soft without pressing if you take them directly from dryer to folding to shelf/drawer or directly from drying line to folding to shelf/drawer. In the case of the video below.. the towels were moved directly from storage pile to line and then... to the press (please notice the smoothness of the photo above.
Red/burnt orange
Red is a really really hard colour to photograph. I am ... a weaver... not a photographer.. These reds are very lovely warm and deep and in full play with the other colours mixed into both warp and weft. All towels are made from varying % of cotton and linen - I mix by colour + fibre content and all do different dances in each piece.
These lovely multi red coloured beauties have as nice a hand as any of the towels I weave. Their colour is deep and rich. They have also been washed on very hot twice to get rid of any ‘bleeding’ tendency. Wash cold/medium with similar or darker colours.
